1. A system for in-line treatment of thread, comprising:
a treatment unit comprising at least one discharge device, wherein the at least one discharge device comprises a plurality of nozzles arranged at different positions relative the at least one thread, the at least one thread being in motion in use, each nozzle being configured to dispense one or more coating substances onto at least one thread when activated;
a thread speed sensor configured to measure a speed of the at least one thread, wherein the thread speed sensor comprises a rotational sensor being driven by the motion of at least one thread and comprising a pulley and an encoder being in operative communication with the pulley; and
a control unit configured to receive speed data from the thread speed sensor, and control operation of the at least one discharge device based on the received speed data;
wherein the thread speed sensor is arranged upstream of the treatment unit;
wherein the control unit is configured to control the plurality of nozzles for coloring of the thread;
wherein the control unit is configured to receive at least one input signal specifying a color or coloring effect, and longitudinal start and stop positions for the color or color effect.
