1. A method for producing a Gossypium plant comprising Fusarium wilt Race 4 (FOV-R4) resistance, the method comprising:
a. extracting a nucleic acid sample from each of one or more Gossypium plants or germplasm thereof;
b. screening each nucleic acid sample for a Fusarium wilt Race 4 (FOV-R4) resistance marker allele C at position 199 of SEQ ID NO: 83;
C. selecting a first Gossypium plant or germplasm thereof identified as having the Fusarium wilt Race 4 (FOV-R4) resistance marker allele screened for in step b; and
d. crossing the first plant selected in step c. with a second Gossypium plant to produce progeny plants, wherein at least one of the progeny plants comprises the Fusarium wilt Race 4 (FOV-R4) resistance marker allele.
