1. A process for removing an acid gas from a fluid stream containing the acid gas, the process comprising:
contacting the fluid stream with a porous solid amine adsorbent, whereby at least a portion of the acid gas is adsorbed by the porous solid amine adsorbent to produce a purified fluid stream,
wherein,
the porous solid amine adsorbent is prepared by a method comprising:
bringing into contact a first solution, the first solution containing a water insoluble polymer and a water-soluble amine polymer, with an aqueous solution containing a multifunctional chemical agent, to form a solid material;
drying the solid material to produce the porous solid amine adsorbent; and
optionally heating the porous solid amine adsorbent to produce a heat-treated porous solid amine adsorbent.
