1. An automated system for cleaning or sterilizing at least one instrument, the system comprising:
a plurality of cleaning or sterilization devices configured to clean or sterilize instruments disposed within a work area;
a waste container disposed within the work area; and
at least one robotic element disposed within the work area;
where the at least one robotic element is configured to:
traverse a length within the work area;
sort any refuse from the at least one instrument using an RFID scanner, barcode reader, image recognition, or AI image processing;
drop the refuse in the waste container;
transport the at least one instrument between at least two of the plurality of cleaning or sterilization devices; and
operate at least one of the plurality of cleaning or sterilization devices.
