1. A system comprising:
data processing hardware; and
memory hardware, wherein the memory hardware is configured to store instructions that, when executed by the data processing hardware, cause the data processing hardware to perform operations that include:
permitting a first computing node to join a distributed network having a persistent storage system, wherein:
each computing node within the distributed network is assigned a data consumption protocol that indicates how the computing node consumes a data record from the persistent storage system, and
the distributed network supports a plurality of data consumption protocols;
receiving, at the persistent storage system, a first data record from the first computing node having a first data consumption protocol;
in response to receiving the first data record, determining a first confidence level for the first data record from a set of confidence levels based on the first data consumption protocol, wherein:
the first confidence level represents a level of veracity of the first data record for use by the first computing node,
the first confidence level is determined based on a first confidence score, and
the first confidence score is based on a credibility of a provider of the first data record;
providing the first data record to a second computing node based on a second data consumption protocol assigned to the second computing node;
in response to providing the first data record to the second computing node, determining a second confidence level for the first data record from the set of confidence levels based on the second data consumption protocol, wherein the second confidence level represents the level of veracity of the first data record for use by the second computing node; and
updating a view associated with the persistent storage system and accessible to each computing node within the distributed network to indicate the first confidence level and the second confidence level for the first data record.
