1. A method of taking a core sample of a formation, the method comprising:
reducing a viscosity of a water binding starting material in a pumping form, the water binding starting material comprising:
at least one polymer;
at least one cross linker capable of curing the at least one polymer; and
a retarder capable of delaying cross linking of the at least one polymer;
wherein at least one additive is added to the water binding starting material to reduce the viscosity of the water binding starting material to less than 2 times of a viscosity of water at a selected temperature;
pumping the water binding starting material into a borehole at a pumping pressure to inject the water binding starting material a distance into the formation from the borehole;
allowing the water binding starting material to cure in the formation; and
taking the core sample from the formation containing the cured water binding starting material.
