1. An implantable medical device (IMD), comprising:
a first sensor configured to collect physiologic data indicative of a physiologic state of a patient;
a radio frequency (RF) circuit configured to communicate wirelessly with an external device utilizing a communications protocol;
a second sensor configured to detect a signal representing at least one of i) a magnetic field induced upon the IMD, ii) an inductive telemetry signal, or iii) an RFID signal;
memory configured to store program code;
a processor that, when executing the program code, is configured to:
in response to the second sensor detecting the signal, entering an advertisement mode triggering the RF circuit to transmit the advertisement notices at a corresponding advertisement period; and
establish a communication link with the external device.
