1. A method comprising:
causing a display device to operate in a first mode by at least deactivating a display and a processing component of the display device;
while the display device is operating in the first mode, generating first sensor data using a sensor system of the display device;
determining, by the sensor system processing the first sensor data using a first presence detection technique, output data indicating that a possible object was detected, wherein the first presence detection technique comprises:
analyzing, by the sensor system, the first sensor data to determine a magnitude of a frequency associated with a signal;
determining, by the sensor system, a peak magnitude associated with the magnitude; and
determining, by the sensor system, that the peak magnitude satisfies a threshold magnitude; and
further wherein determining the output data indicating that the possible object was detected comprises detecting, by the sensor system, the possible object based at least in part on determining that the peak magnitude satisfies the threshold magnitude;
based at least in part on the output data, causing the display device to operate in a second mode by at least activating the processing component;
while the display device is operating in the second mode, generating second sensor data using the sensor system;
determining, by the processing component processing the second sensor data using a second presence detection technique, that the possible object is an actual object; and
based at least in part on the possible object being the actual object, causing the display device to operate in a third mode by at least activating the display.
