1. A method comprising:
distributing transformation information, which is learned at a network device, among respective memory devices of a plurality of ports on the network device, the transformation information being associated with packet forwarding;
in response to receiving a packet at an ingress port of the network device, determining, by the ingress port, a first memory device of a first port storing a first piece of transformation information corresponding to the packet;
obtaining, by the ingress port, the first piece of transformation information from the first memory device of the first port;
transforming, at the ingress port, the packet based on the first piece of transformation information to determine an egress port for the packet; and
sending the packet via the egress port.
