1. A method, comprising:
generating an AC voltage with a traction inverter including a first half bridge circuit, a second half bridge circuit, and a third half bridge circuit each coupled between terminals of a DC link capacitor;
receiving, at a driver circuit coupled to the first, second, and third half bridge circuits, a command to discharge the DC link capacitor; and
discharging the DC link capacitor responsive to the command by toggling, with the driver circuit, the first half bridge between an open condition and a closed condition while holding the second half bridge circuit and the third half bridge circuit in the open condition.
