1. A method for managing a trajectory for an aircraft, the method comprising:
receiving, in a data processing device, an agreed trajectory change coded in a first format for a future portion of the trajectory for the aircraft, wherein a strategic air traffic controller located separate from the aircraft and negotiating with the data processing device formed the agreed trajectory change;
determining, in a computer system, whether the agreed trajectory change has been received within a strategic time horizon for making strategic changes to the trajectory;
transforming, by the computer system, the agreed trajectory change from the first format into a trajectory change coded in a second format; and
sending, by the computer system responding to the agreed trajectory change being received by the computer system within the strategic time horizon, the trajectory change in the second format for the future portion of the trajectory for the aircraft to an aircraft computer system in the aircraft configured to change the future portion of the trajectory of the aircraft during flight of the aircraft.
