1. A display assembly comprising:
a structural framework;
a first and second subassembly attached to said structural framework and each comprising an airflow passageway, and at least one of which comprises:
an electronic display layer;
an illumination device for providing illumination to said electronic display layer when powered; and
a cover positioned forward of said electronic display layer;
a rear airflow passageway positioned between said first and second subassemblies;
a closed airflow pathway for circulating gas comprising said rear airflow passageway and said airflow passageway of each of said first and second subassemblies; and
fan units, wherein a first fan unit of the fan units is located at a first portion of the rear airflow passageway associated with the first subassembly and includes a first ducted passageway encompassing an exit of the first fan unit and extending from the exit of the first fan unit exclusively to the airflow passageway of the first subassembly of such that, when activated, the first fan unit moves a first flow of the circulating gas from the rear airflow passageway to the airflow passageway of the first subassembly by way of the first ducted passageway and within the airflow passageway of the first subassembly in a first direction, and wherein a second fan unit of the fan units is located at a second portion of the rear airflow passageway associated with the second subassembly and includes a second ducted passageway encompassing an exit of the second fan unit and extending from the exit of the second fan unit exclusively to the airflow passageway of the second subassembly of such that, when activated, the second fan unit moves a second flow of the circulating gas from the rear airflow passageway to the airflow passageway of the second subassembly by way of the second ducted passageway and within the airflow passageway of the second subassembly in a second direction.
