1. A method of operating a display system, the method comprising:
adjusting an output of image light from a display to pass through an optical element positioned between the display and at least one micro lens array, including impinging light upon a transparent plane to generate a three-dimensional image on a continuous plane that is based on a user focal point and/or origin position of an eye gaze determined by an eye-tracking module; and
further adjusting the display system based on a measured sunlight intensity detected by a sunload monitoring module, wherein the sunload monitoring module includes or is in communication with one or more sun detection sensors, and wherein the adjusting of the display system includes adjusting a physical position of the optical element to decrease a sunload in one or more regions of the display in response to the one or more sun detection sensors measuring sunlight intensity above a threshold in the one or more regions of the display;
wherein adjusting of the physical position of the optical element comprises reducing a magnification and increasing a focal length of the display system; and
wherein the one or more sun detection sensors are infrared sensors.
