1. An apparatus comprising:
a display device;
a storage for storing complex satellite information about particular satellites;
one or more processors; and
logic encoded in one or more non-transitory media for execution by the one or more processors and when executed operable to:
receive a request from a user for one or more services associated with satellites;
prior to providing the one or more services, perform an initialization process during which satellite signals are initially acquired and data are decoded including ephemeris data;
retrieve from the storage, the complex satellite information that was previously updated, including one or more of: a map of travel paths of at least one of the particular satellites, ionospheric variation, signal quality status of at least one of the plurality of the satellites, and receiver status;
in response to receiving the request and while performing the initialization process, automatically-render on the display device at least one graphical user interface (GUI) that includes the complex satellite information for entertainment and engagement of the user while waiting for completion of the initialization process;
determine that the initialization process is complete; and
in response to the initialization process being complete, update the GUI to include an option to start the one or more services associated with one or more of the particular satellites.
