1. A method of determining an unconfined compressive strength of a soil, comprising:
receiving a set of soil samples;
performing laser induced breakdown spectroscopy on each soil sample to generate spectral emission intensities of each soil sample of the set of soil samples;
measuring a bulk density of each soil sample of the set of soil samples;
measuring a water content of each soil sample of the set of soil samples;
applying the spectral emission intensities, the bulk densities and the water contents of each soil sample as input features to a trained machine learning regressor combined with an adaptive boosting classifier; and
determining, by the trained machine learning regressor combined with the adaptive boosting classifier, the unconfined compressive strength of each of the soil samples,
wherein the receiving is with a soil analysis device comprising:
an elongated housing having a handle at an upper end and a plurality of wheels mounted on an axle at a lower end,
an auger mounted on a front side of the elongated housing, and
a sample holder configured to receive a soil sample from the set of soil samples, wherein the sample holder has a defined volume and is positioned to receive the soil sample from the auger.
