1. An article of footwear, comprising:
an upper;
a knitted component that forms at least a portion of the upper, wherein the knitted component comprises a first surface area and a second surface area proximate to the first surface area,
wherein the first surface area comprises a fused area and a plurality of auxiliary components that protrude outward and are positioned within the fused area, wherein the plurality of auxiliary components provide a texture to the first surface area, wherein each auxiliary component of the plurality of auxiliary components defines a three-dimensional structure that forms part of the fused area,
wherein the second surface area comprises a non-fused area; and
a sole structure joined to the upper.
