1. A method of immobilizing a phenolic compound having a Mw≥500 g/mol, wherein the method comprises the steps of:
ionizing the phenolic compound by subjecting it to a base; and
contacting, under agitation, the ionized phenolic compound with a cross-linked resin comprising the functionality of —C(═O)—CHXCH2R, wherein X is selected from the group consisting of Br, Cl, I, CN, OMs, OTs, and OTf; and R is H, CH3 or a branched or unbranched alkyl having 1 to 8 carbon atoms.
