1. A ruthenium olefin metathesis catalyst, comprising the formula:

wherein
L1 is an oxygen atom and L2 is a pyridyl ligand or a substituted pyridyl ligand;
X1 and X2 are chlorine;
R1 alkylidene ligand CH2, vinylidene ligand, allenylidene ligand, or indenylidene ligand;
R2 is a carbene ligand; and
Q1 is phenylene and Q2 fis ethylene (-CH2-CH2-), or substituted ethylene.
