1. A dumbbell system for exercising with an incrementally-variable mass of weights, comprising:
(a) an inner weight-engagement device comprising:
an inner first end opposite an inner second end;
a plurality of inner weight-engagement ports dispersed between the inner first end and the inner second end, each inner weight-engagement port in the plurality of inner weight-engagement ports being configured to receive a weight-retaining pin or optionally a grip-retaining pin;
(b) an outer weight-engagement device, wherein the inner weight-engagement device is adapted to fit incrementally within the outer weight-engagement device, the outer weight-engagement device comprising:
an outer first end opposite an outer second end;
a plurality of outer weight-engagement ports dispersed between the outer first end and the outer second end, each outer weight-engagement port in the plurality of outer weight-engagement ports being configured to receive the weight-retaining pin;
(c) a grip comprising a handle portion enclosing a pin-receiving portion adapted to receive the weight-retaining pin or optionally the grip-retaining pin, wherein the grip is adapted to be secured within at least one of the plurality of inner weight-engagement ports;
(d) a first plurality of weight plates, each weight plate in the first plurality of weight plates comprising at least one pin-engagement port configured to also receive the weight-retaining pin, wherein each of the at least one pin-engagement port is adapted to align with an outer weight-engagement port in the plurality of outer weight-engagement ports or optionally an inner weight-engagement port in the plurality of inner weight-engagement ports;
wherein the plurality of weight plates provides the incrementally-variable mass of weights.
