2. A joint dislocation reduction device comprising:
an elongated flexible band extending along a central axis from a proximal end to a distal end, and includes:
i. a distal end tapered lead element and an associated distal end coupling element at the distal end, and
ii. an associated proximal end coupling element at the proximal end, wherein the distal end coupling element is adapted to selectively couple to the proximal end coupling element the distal end being adapted to receive a cord element extending therefrom to a needle element,
the elongated flexible band being characterized by a shape memory reversibly allowing axial extension and retraction in response to axial tension applied in a predetermined range to the flexible band between the proximal end and the distal end,
the elongated flexible band being adapted to be formed into a closed loop shape:
wherein the elongated flexible band include:
i. one or more shape memory regions along the central axis between the proximal end and the distal end characterized by a relatively high elasticity in a direction aligned with the central axis, and
ii. one or more non-shape memory regions along the central axis which are characterized by a relatively low elasticity in a direction aligned with the central axis.
