1. An expandable implant movable between a contracted position and an expanded position, comprising:
an expandable body extending from a proximal end to a distal end in a proximal-to-distal direction and extending from a first lateral side to a second lateral side in a widthwise direction, the expandable body being defined by a superior endplate and an inferior endplate that are hingedly connected;
the superior endplate comprises a first core having screw slot and a distal engagement surface;
the inferior endplate comprises a second core having a proximal engagement surface and a threaded screw aperture; and
a threaded breakoff screw having a fracture surface for separating the threaded breakoff screw, the threaded breakoff screw being disposed in the threaded screw aperture and movable between a locked position and an unlocked position,
wherein, in the locked position, the threaded breakoff screw urges the distal engagement surface of the first core into direct contact with the proximal engagement surface of the second core, and
wherein the threaded breakoff screw extends in a proximal to distal direction along a longitudinal axis and a proximal most end of the threaded breakoff screw comprises a first tang and a second tang opposite the first tang.
