1. A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:
transmitting a request for media content to a server;
transmitting a first buffer occupancy of a buffer to the server responsive to the request for media content; and
receiving a first portion of the media content from the server over a wireless network according to a first video bit rate, wherein the server determines the first video bit rate according to a first predicted available bandwidth and by comparing the first buffer occupancy of the buffer and a buffer threshold, wherein the first predicted available bandwidth is associated with a first time period for streaming the first portion of the media content, and wherein the first predicted available bandwidth is protected from sharing with a third party.
