A system comprising an optical device and a sterile covering, wherein the sterile covering comprises a window element and a shell, wherein the shell is attached to the window element, wherein the shell has an opening closed by the window element, wherein the shell has an edge region, wherein the edge region is mounted on the window element, wherein the opening is surrounded by the edge region, wherein the opening has a smaller cross-sectional area than the window element, wherein the optical device comprises a locking element for the window element, wherein the shell and the window element are connectable by at least one of an adhesive or a welded connection, and wherein the edge region is arranged at least partially not directly adjacent to edges of the window element.
