1. A chum throwing device comprising:
a shaft;
a container attached to the shaft, the container being configured to hold chum and having an open end that faces away from the shaft; and
a level attached to the shaft, the level being indicative of a rotational position of the container around a longitudinal axis of the shaft,
wherein the shaft includes an enlarged portion at a proximal end of the shaft opposite the container, and the level is attached to the enlarged portion, and
wherein the container has a closed end at least indirectly attached to the shaft and a longitudinal axis that extends through centers of the closed end and the open end respectively so as to intersect the shaft, and the container is positioned on the shaft so that an angle between the longitudinal axis of the shaft and the longitudinal axis of the container is between 100 degrees and 110 degrees.
