1. An apparatus comprising a light source, a mixing channel, and an optical system for projecting a light beam,
wherein the light source comprises one or more LEDs with a phosphor conversion layer disposed on a light-emitting surface of the one or more LEDs,
wherein the mixing channel comprises an input opening and an output opening,
wherein the LED with phosphor conversion layer is disposed within the input opening of the mixing channel,
wherein a width of the input opening is less than three times a width of the light source,
wherein a length of the mixing channel is less than three times the width of the light source, and
wherein the mixing channel provides improved uniformity of color and light intensity at the output opening compared to the input opening.
