1. A method of increasing a quantity of PCR-amplifiable synthetic double-stranded DNA comprising natural bases encoding digital information, the method comprising:
determining that the quantity of PCR-amplifiable DNA in the synthetic double-stranded DNA is less than a threshold level, wherein the threshold level is based on a change in the quantity of PCR-amplifiable DNA before and after storage as measured by quantitative PCR;
contacting the synthetic double-stranded DNA with a repair mixture comprising an endonuclease; and
amplifying the synthetic double-stranded DNA by polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
