1. A method performed by a terminal in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
receiving, from a base station, time division duplex (TDD) configuration information of a slot format for a number of slots;
receiving, from the base station, first information for a transmission of a channel over a first set of symbols in a slot from the number of slots;
identifying, based on the slot format of the slot, a second set of symbols, from the first set of symbols, wherein all symbols in the second set of symbols are configured as downlink symbols;
transmitting, to the base station, the channel in a third set of symbols, wherein the third set of symbols is a subset of the first set of symbols that do not include any symbols from the second set of symbols;
receiving, from the base station, second information for symbols associated with synchronization signals and primary broadcast channel (SS/PBCH) blocks;
identifying a fourth set of symbols, wherein:
the fourth set of symbols is a subset of the first set of symbols, and
all symbols in the fourth set of symbols are configured as flexible symbols; and
identifying a fifth set of symbols, wherein:
the fifth set of symbols is a subset of the fourth set of symbols,
all symbols in the fifth set of symbols are associated with the SS/PBCH blocks, and
the fourth set of symbols, except for the fifth set of symbols, are included in the third set of symbols.
