5. A method in a network node, the method comprising:
associating different uplink transmission resources with different ones among multiple beam coverage areas, for use by wireless devices (WDs) operating in a cell served by the network node in performing radio resource control (RRC) configured periodic uplink transmissions, the cell being divided into the multiple beam coverage areas; and
transmit signaling for reception by the WDs, indicating the associations; and
for each WD, treat the uplink transmission resources corresponding to the beam coverage area with which the WD is currently spatially associated as being active for the WD.
