1. An audio system comprising:
a. a first earphone comprising a first magnetically attractable surface;
b. a second earphone comprising a second magnetically attractable surface for removably coupling with the first magnetically attractable surface; and
c. a device controller configured to communicate an activation signal to an electronic device when a decoupling of the first magnetically attractable surface and the second magnetically attractable surface is detected, to enable audio from the electronic device to be played in one or more of the first earphone and the second earphone.
