1. A computer-implemented method for controlling network congestion, the method comprising:
receiving feedback information indicating one or more reception durations over which a plurality of first packets from one or more first groups of packets were received by a client device;
computing a first relationship between send duration and reception duration based on the one or more reception durations and one or more send durations over which the plurality of first packets were transmitted to the client device;
computing an available network path capacity based on the first relationship; and
causing data associated with one or more second groups of packets to be encoded at a particular bitrate based on the available network path capacity.
