1. A method comprising:
receiving a message comprising a message bit array, a particular bit position in the message bit array identifying a plurality of destination nodes in a node group;
accessing a forwarding table entry corresponding to the particular bit position;
determining whether the particular bit position is an anycast bit position having multiple corresponding forwarding table entries;
based on a result of the determining, updating the message bit array so that the bit position identifies a subset of the plurality of destination nodes; and
forwarding the message to one of the plurality of destination nodes of the node group.
