1. A method of charging batteries, comprising:
(a) monitoring, via measurements of a terminal voltage of a battery taken at a first measurement rate, the terminal voltage of the battery undergoing a charging process, wherein monitoring the terminal voltage of the battery comprises determining whether at least one measurement of the terminal voltage is greater than a predetermined upper limit value;
(b) repeatedly determining, at a second measurement rate, whether to adjust at least one characteristic of the charging process based at least on an indication of a State of Health (SOH) of the battery, wherein the second measurement rate is less than the first measurement rate; and
(c) adjusting the at least one characteristic of the charging process based on the determination in (b), wherein at least one characteristic of the charging process comprises at least one of: a shape of a charging signal, a duration associated with the charging signal, a duty cycle associated with the charging signal, a polarity associated with the charging signal, or an amplitude associated with the charging signal.
