1. A connector for a marine device, the connector comprising:
a barrel-shaped housing having an open first end and an opposite second end;
a plug provided within the housing, the plug comprising a plurality of electrical pins;
a sleeve surrounding the housing;
a circumferential seal provided about an outer surface of the housing; and
an asymmetrical key provided within the housing. wherein the asymmetrical key is between and divides a first subset of electrical pins in the plurality of electrical pins from a second subset of electrical pins in the plurality of electrical pins;
wherein the housing is configured to receive a first portion of a mating connector via the first end of the housing; and
wherein an annular gap between the outer surface of the housing and the sleeve is configured to receive a second portion of the mating connector and the seal is configured to contact the second portion of the mating connector.
