1. A method of establishing secure communication with a mobile device at an electronic lock, the method comprising:
establishing a communication connection between the electronic lock and a mobile device over a short-range wireless communication protocol;
performing an authentication process between the electronic lock and the mobile device;
after performing the authentication process:
generating a key pair at the electronic lock, the key pair including a lock public key and a lock private key; and
receiving a device public key from the mobile device; and
generating an encryption key at the electronic lock based on a shared secret, the shared secret being obtained from the lock private key and the device public key; and
performing encrypted communication between the electronic lock and the mobile device using the encryption key, the encrypted communication occurring via an unbonded connection using the short-range wireless communication protocol.
