1. A transaction card, comprising:
a first layer and a second layer, at least one of the first layer or the second layer having a transparent planar portion;
a loop antenna inset between the first layer and the second layer;
a light-emitting element having a first terminal and a second terminal; and
an inductive illumination antenna inset between the first layer and the second layer and positioned proximate to the loop antenna such that, when the transaction card is positioned in a magnetic field, the inductive illumination antenna is induced with a current from the loop antenna, a first end of the inductive illumination antenna being connected to the first terminal and a second end of the inductive illumination antenna being connected to the second terminal.
