1. A pivot mechanism for connecting a shoulder rest to a rear stock on a gun, comprising:
a rotation post having first and second ends, and an outer diameter;
a torsion spring having first and second legs and an inner diameter, said inner diameter of said torsion spring situated about said outer diameter of said rotation post;
a rotation post receiver having an inner diameter formed to receive said second end of said rotation post and said torsion spring;
a centering tab associated with rotation post, said centering tab having a length situated between said first and second legs of said torsion spring;
whereby, upon engaging said shoulder rest to a shoulder of a user with said shoulder rest and gun in a neutral position, and pivoting said gun and rear stock relative to said shoulder rest from said neutral position, said rotation post and said centering tab pivot to engage said first or second leg of said torsion spring so that said torsion spring provides bias to resist pivoting, while providing user feedback as to position while facilitating re-alignment of said shoulder rest and rear stock upon disengaging said shoulder rest from said user's shoulder.
