1. A method of generating a radionuclide comprising bombarding a target material comprising an isotopically enriched cobalt intermetallic compound of comprising cobalt and selenium with bombarding particles in a particle accelerator, wherein the selenium is isotopically enriched in the target material and the target material contains from 50 mol. % to 60 mol. % of the selenium wherein the bombarding particles have energies that are sufficiently high to induce a nuclear reaction that produces the radionuclide from the cobalt intermetallic compound.
