1. A nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding a protein selected from:
(A1) a protein comprising an amino acid sequence that is at least 95% identical to SEQ ID NO: 1 and when expressed in a soybean plant provides increased resistance to Asian soybean rust (ASR); and
(A2) a fusion protein obtained by tagging at the N-terminus and/or C-terminus of the protein defined in (A1);
wherein said nucleotide sequence is operatively linked to a heterologous regulatory sequence.
