1. A method for controlling a hybrid vehicle, comprising:
driving a generator using an engine to generate power;
driving a drive motor using the power generated by the generator;
collecting, using a filter, a particulate matter in an exhaust gas of the engine;
determining whether or not a target power is lower than zero;
determining whether or not a temperature of the filter is higher than a predetermined threshold temperature, when the target power is determined to be lower than zero;
prohibiting fuel cut for the engine when the temperature of the filter is determined to be higher than the threshold temperature;
performing a power consumption operation in which a negative engine torque is generated in the engine by driving the engine with the generator while performing combustion in the engine, in response to prohibiting the fuel cut for the engine, wherein the power consumption operation includes retard discharge;
performing fuel cut for the engine when the temperature of the filter is determined to be not higher than the threshold temperature; and
performing motoring during the fuel cut, wherein the motoring includes driving the engine using the generator.
