A control apparatus for an in-wheel motor vehicle that is equipped with a motor provided in a tire wheel, at least one sensor provided in a case that accommodates the motor, an electric power supply provided on a vehicle body and an electrical storage device that stores electric power, a controller that is provided on the vehicle body to control the motor, a power cable that connects the motor to the electric power supply and the electrical storage device, and a sensor cable that connects the sensor and the controller to each other, wherein
the controller is configured to perform disconnection control for discharging the electric power stored in the electrical storage device to an extra device in response to determining that the power cable is disconnected when the sensor cable is disconnected.
