1. A system for playing a board game, comprising:
a game board, including:
a network of intersection points, wherein the network of intersection points is created by a plurality of intersecting recessed grooves in the game board; and
raised knobs placed at the intersection points;
a directional piece for directing movement of a gameplay token, including:
a junction;
at least one of the following:
an outward-pointing directional indicator, which has a male connector pointing away from the junction that engages with a female connector of an inward-pointing directional indicator; or
an inward-pointing directional indicator, which has a female connector pointing towards the junction that engages with a male connector of an outward-pointing directional indicator; and
a connector that interfaces with a raised knob of the game board, limiting horizontal shifts of the directional piece across the game board; and
a gameplay token capable of resting on the junction of a directional piece.
