1. A base plate for an ostomy appliance, the base plate comprising:
a plurality of electrodes; and
an adhesive layer, comprising:
a distal surface;
a stomal opening with a center point;
a proximal surface for attachment to a skin surface of a user; and
a plurality of sensor point openings arranged circumferentially around the center point that each:
correspond to a respective sensor point of the plurality of electrodes, and
extend through the adhesive layer from the proximal surface to the distal surface, thereby exposing the respective sensor point to fluid passing therethrough from the proximal surface of the adhesive layer.
