10. A receiving part for connecting a rod to bone, the receiving part having a first end, a second end opposite to the first end, and a central axis extending through the first end and the second end, and comprising:
two free legs defining a channel adjacent to the first end for receiving the rod;
an outer surface portion that faces away from the central axis; and
at least one projection configured to engage an engagement recess of an instrument to provide a connection between the instrument and the receiving part, wherein the at least one projection is spaced apart axially from the first end of the receiving part, is spaced apart circumferentially from the channel on one side by a first region of the outer surface portion, and is spaced apart circumferentially from the channel on an opposite side by a second region of the outer surface portion; and
wherein the at least one projection extends laterally away from the central axis from a base connected to the outer surface portion of the receiving part to an outwardly facing surface, wherein the outwardly facing surface extends uninterruptedly from a first circumferential end to a second circumferential end, and wherein a circumferential width of the outwardly facing surface measured between the first and second circumferential ends is greater than a maximum circumferential width of the base such that undercuts are formed on both sides of the at least one projection adjacent the first and second circumferential ends.
