1. A method of reducing a transmission of a tangential acceleration from a helmet shell to a person's head, comprising an internal body positionable about the person's head, and the helmet shell cooperatively rotatable with respect to the internal body, the internal body configured with at least one magnetic flux facing outward, and the helmet shell configured with at least one magnetic flux facing inward, to produce a damping torque in the internal body in the transmission of the tangential acceleration, the method comprising the steps of:
a) starting in a resting state, forming at least one repulsive magnetic field in a space configured by an axial alignment of the at least one magnetic flux of the internal body and the at least one magnetic flux of the helmet shell;
b) upon receiving a force that causes the tangential acceleration of the helmet shell during a period T, comprising a first period Ta, and a second period Tb;
i) during Ta, the at least one repulsive magnetic field increases magnetic strength and rotates as the helmet shell moves in a tangential direction with respect to the internal body, causing a plurality of linkages between the helmet shell and the internal body to bend;
ii) during Tb, the at least one magnetic field produces the damping torque in the internal body;
c) reducing the transmission of the tangential acceleration from the helmet shell to the person's head;
d) returning to the resting state, as the plurality of linkages straighten.
