1. A method of random access, comprising:
in response to a terminal device failing to achieve access when a value of a counter for recording a number of transmissions of a random access message containing a preamble reaches N during a first random access procedure,
switching, by the terminal device, from the first random access procedure to a second random access procedure, the counter being further configured to count a number of transmissions of a random access message containing a preamble during the second random access procedure, and N being a positive integer;
wherein the value of the counter is N+1 after the terminal device transmits the random access message containing the preamble for a first time during the second random access procedure;
wherein the method further comprises:
during a process of counting the number of transmissions of the random access message containing the preamble during the second random access procedure,
determining, by the terminal device, that the second random access procedure fails and reporting, by the terminal device, a random access problem to a higher layer, in response to the number of transmissions recorded by the counter being greater than or equal to K, and K being a positive integer;
wherein a transmit power for first transmission of the preamble during the second random access procedure is greater than a transmit power for Nth transmission of the preamble during the first random access procedure.
