1. A combiner system for combining a plurality of video streams into a tiled video stream, comprising:
a network interface subsystem configured to:
receive at least a first video stream comprising a first video of a first media source and a second video stream comprising a second video of a second media source;
receive at least one of a first identifier of the first video stream and a second identifier of the second video stream from a receiver device as part of a stream request of the receiver device;
a processor subsystem configured to:
in a compressed domain, combining the first video stream and the second video stream to obtain a tiled video stream, wherein the tiled video stream is a spatially segmented composite video stream, and wherein said combining comprises including each respective video stream as one or more independently decodable tiles in the tiled video stream;
generating composition metadata describing a composition of the tiles in the tiled video stream;
generating identification metadata comprising a first identifier of the first video stream and a second identifier of the second video stream, wherein the first identifier and the second identifier uniquely identify the respective video streams in the tiled video stream;
via the network interface subsystem, streaming the tiled video stream to the receiver device and providing the composition metadata and the identification metadata to the receiver device, wherein the receiver device identifies a first process respectively a second process for handling the decoded video data of the respective video stream based on the respective identifier of the respective video stream and wherein the first process is a process of a first application and the second process is a process of a second application.
