1. A system for retrieving information stored on storage medium, the system comprising:
a read sensor comprising a plurality of read elements configured to detect electromagnetic fields produced by one or more tracks of a storage medium, the plurality of read elements comprising at least a first group of read elements and a second group of read elements, wherein the electromagnetic fields indicate information stored on the storage medium;
one or more processors;
one or more memory units, wherein the system is configured to:
dispose the first group of read elements to sense a first track of the storage medium;
dispose the second group of read elements to sense a second track of the storage medium;
obtain, using a first read element of the first group of read elements, a first reading of electromagnetic fields from the first track, the electromagnetic fields from the first track indicating a first set of data;
obtain, using a second read element of the first group of read elements, a second reading of the electromagnetic fields from the first track;
based on both the first reading of the electromagnetic fields from the first track obtained using the first read element of the first group and the second reading of the electromagnetic fields from the first track obtained using the second read element of the first group, generate a composite interpretation of the first set of data;
obtain, using a first read element of the second group of read elements, a first reading of electromagnetic fields from the second track, the electromagnetic fields from the second track indicating a second set of data;
obtain, using a second read element of the second group of read elements, a second reading of the electromagnetic fields from the second track; and
based on both the first reading of the electromagnetic fields from the second track obtained using the first read element of the second group and the second reading of the electromagnetic fields from the second track obtained using the second read element of the second group, generate a composite interpretation of the second set of data.
