1. A building construction material comprising:
a top compound layer;
a bottom compound layer:
a substrate layer; and
unexpanded vermiculite ore incorporated in at least one of the top and bottom compound layers;
wherein the building construction material achieves a Class A fire rating as tested by UL 790 criteria.
