1. A process for making an organoselenium compound, comprising reacting a diselenide compound of the formula:

with R—Br in the presence of ethanol, NaBH4, and N2 to obtain a compound of the formula:

which compound in turn is reacted with, in the presence of toluene, a compound of the formula:
