1. A method for determining a total flow of gas and entrained air delivered by a ventilator to a patient, the method comprising:
measuring a flow of gas expelled by one or more nozzles of a patient ventilation interface connected to the ventilator, the patient ventilation interface including, in addition to the one or more nozzles, one or more apertures for the entrainment of additional ambient air for delivery to the patient;
measuring a pressure in the patient ventilation interface; and
determining the total flow based on the measured flow and the measured pressure, the total flow including the flow of gas expelled by the one or more nozzles and an entrainment flow of ambient air entrained by the one or more nozzles through the one or more apertures.

18. A ventilator comprising:
a processor or programmable circuit configured to measure a flow of gas expelled by one or more nozzles of a patient ventilation interface connected to the ventilator, the patient ventilation interface including, in addition to the one or more nozzles, one or more apertures for the entrainment of additional ambient air for delivery to the patient, measure a pressure in the patient ventilation interface, and determine the total flow based on the measured flow and the measured pressure, the total flow including the flow of gas expelled by the one or more nozzles and an entrainment flow of ambient air entrained by the one or more nozzles through the one or more apertures;
a flow sensor; and
a pressure sensor, wherein
said measuring the flow includes communicating with the flow sensor, and
said measuring the pressure includes communicating with the pressure sensor.
